The Sealing of Prophethood
Successive messengers had a cause that preservation removes
Logical premises
- 1
Messengers succeeded one another for two causes: the loss or alteration of the previous message, and its address being confined to one people.
- 2
If a message is preserved from alteration and comes addressed to all mankind, both causes are removed together.
- 3
The removal of a cause entails the removal of its effect, for wisdom then retains no reason to send again.
Quranic proof
Rational conclusion
Since both causes of succession are removed by the message's preservation and universality, it follows that it is final — finality being a requirement of wisdom, not a bare claim.
