The Absence of an Intermediary

Needing an intermediary would imply deficiency in the One called upon

Logical premises

  1. 1

Requiring an intermediary implies one of two things: that the caller's state is hidden from the One called, or that the One called needs someone to soften Him.

  2. 2

Both are deficiencies impossible for the Creator, since His perfection entails encompassing knowledge, vast mercy, and independence from intermediaries.

Quranic proof

﴿وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ...﴾

Rational conclusion

Declaring the Creator free of deficiency therefore entails that access to Him is direct, and that intermediation in supplication is negated by reason, not merely omitted by ritual.
